How Sealants Are Used in Windows & Doors

Adhesives and sealants play a crucial role in the construction and installation of windows and doors, contributing to both their structural integrity and energy efficiency. These versatile materials are employed in various ways to ensure that windows and doors function optimally and provide airtight, watertight, and secure seals.

Adhesives are used in the bonding of various components of windows and doors. They are applied to secure the glass panes within the window frames, creating a strong and durable bond. Adhesives are also used to affix hardware components such as handles, hinges, and locks onto doors and windows, ensuring they remain securely in place.

Sealants, on the other hand, are primarily employed to prevent air and water infiltration. In the case of windows, sealants are applied around the window frame, creating an airtight barrier that prevents drafts and heat loss, thus enhancing energy efficiency. Sealants also prevent water from seeping into the building, helping to protect the interior from moisture damage. For doors, sealants are used to create a tight seal between the door and its frame, preventing air leakage and enhancing sound insulation.
